Do you want to get involved in extracurricular activities at East High School this year? Getting involved has a multitude of benefits and is fortunately very easy to do at East! A great way to start is by finding clubs that interest you at the Activity Fair, which was held on September 22. This year, our activity fair had almost 60 clubs available to join. Here is a preview of some of the clubs that you may want to join!
Book Club- Do you enjoy reading and discussing books? The book club will meet 1-2 times a month to talk about their current reading and give book recommendations!

BSU- The Black Student Union is a unity program that creates a safe space for everyone of all backgrounds. The BSU hosts fundraisers and activities, goes on field trips to museums and HBCUs, and hangs out!
Crochet Club- If you crochet or are interested in learning how to, join Crochet Club! Crochet Club works on various projects and donates their creations, such as hats, scarves, stuffed animals, and blankets.

Film Club- East High School’s film club meets once a week to watch and discuss movies. In the past, they’ve also gone to the movie theaters and made a short film.

Habitat for Humanity- Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing for the less fortunate. This club supports Habitat for Humanity by fundraising, volunteering, and spreading their message and awareness.

House of Hope- Do you want to get involved in East’s annual charity concert? By joining House of Hope, you will help plan, advertise, contact administrators, and hold auditions for East’s charity concert for Home of the Sparrow. Last year’s concert raised the most money yet!

Language and Culture Club- If you like to learn about different cultures, the Language and Culture Club may interest you. They analyze various aspects of cultures by exploring their food, clothes, entertainment, industry, sports, history, language, and more!
Mock Trial- Mock Trial is a team at East that is given a criminal or civil case. As a team, they roleplay as lawyers and witnesses and dissect the case using legal knowledge. Joining will help you with public speaking, critical thinking, and forming arguments. It enables you to to think on the spot and adapt to the unanticipated!
Model UN- If you’re interested in foreign relations and international diplomacy, then Model UN would be a great choice for you. Students are assigned committees or groups where you represent a country and work with other countries to solve problems, acting as your assigned country really would.
Positivity Club- The Positivity Club is an inclusive club where students come together to eradicate any toxicity at East, spread positivity, and create an open space for members to speak about mental health!
Red Cross Club- East’s Red Cross Club supports the American Red Cross by hosting various events and fundraisers throughout the year. Some of their fundraisers will be bake sales, sports tournaments, merchandise sales, and food/clothing drives.
The Melton Center Committee- The Melton Center of West Chester is an organization which dedicates itself to providing educational and enrichment programs for those who would otherwise not receive them. The Melton Center Committee at East promotes understanding and cooperation among all people for the Melton Center.

Viking Volunteers- Volunteering is essential to every high school student, especially for those interested in NHS. Viking Volunteers makes it easy and accessible to find volunteer opportunities with local organizations and hosts monthly events, like fundraisers, drives, and activities!
