On April 1st, East High School will be hosting the 12th annual House of Hope Charity Concert. The Norse Code asked Jacob Samuel, Saanvi Bhatia, and Daniel Cheng to give us a sneak preview in anticipation of the concert!

What is the House of Hope?

The House of Hope is a student-run organization that hosts an annual charity concert to benefit Home of the Sparrow. The concert shows off the artistic talents of students from the WCASD community, featuring singers, dancers, bands, and instrumentalists! Our acts are absolutely phenomenal this year, as they always are! It’ll be hosted in the WC East auditorium on April 1st at 7pm.

What charity do the proceeds from this concert go towards?

The proceeds from this concert go towards Home of the Sparrow, a nonprofit in Chester County that benefits single women and their children facing homelessness. Home of the Sparrow provides temporary relief to these women through, for example, housing support, in order to achieve long-term stability, which they support through educational programs. They work collaboratively with each woman to tailor their support around the women’s individual needs.

How much has the House of Hope raised in the past? Is there a goal for this year?

House of Hope has raised more than $32,000 in past years, with our virtual concerts raising $5,000 in 2021 and $7,000 in 2020. We hope to raise at least $4,000 this year!

What performances can we expect?

This year we have some outstanding acts! We have powerhouse singers, the most graceful dancers, skilled instrumentalists, and high-energy bands. Each individual act has a story to tell, and accompanied with lighting and sound, the audience is taken on a musical and emotional journey.

What are you most excited about for the concert?

We are most excited to get back to having this concert in-person! The three of us haven’t even been to an in-person House of Hope concert because they were virtual for the past two years. It’s great that the tradition was able to live on throughout the pandemic, but we are definitely excited that we get to pick things up again in person. Believe us, you do not want to miss it.

How can students purchase tickets?

Students can purchase tickets here for $8 or at the door for $10 cash. We hope to see you there!

We hope you’ll support this charitable cause and East’s student performers on April 1st!
