The co-presidents of InterAct, Anushka Raina and Abby Criscuolo, share their thoughts about the club and its recent success with a community supply drive.
What is the main purpose of InterAct?
The main purpose of interact is to get students involved in various volunteer opportunities in our community.
With the current circumstances, how have you adjusted to managing a club virtually? Have there been any obstacles as a club with a fundraising foundation?
There have been many obstacles due to the current circumstances. In past years, we often worked with East Goshen Township and their events, but due to the virus, all of their regular events have been canceled. It has been difficult to organize events since our main goal is to keep everyone safe.
You recently held an outdoor supply drive at East, collecting items for Safe Harbor and the Chester County Food Bank. Was it as successful as you hoped?
This event was as successful as we had hoped! We ended up with two trunks full of supplies for Safe Harbor and the Food Bank.
What originally made you decide to organize a drive for Safe Harbor and the Chester County Food Bank?
We decided to organize a drive because it was an easy way to make a difference while being able to stay socially distanced. Also, these two organizations do a lot for the community and are always looking for donations.
Do you have any future plans in the works, or have you just been taking it one step at a time?
We have just been taking it one step at a time, but we definitely plan to do more this school year to help the community.
Do you have any primary goals for InterAct from now until the end of the school year?
Our primary goal is to keep everyone safe while still finding ways to offer volunteer opportunities.
What does InterAct offer to East’s student body? Why should students participate?
InterAct offers amazing volunteer opportunities and is full of committed people who enjoy giving back. Students should participate to meet new people and have fun while making a difference.
