One thing East High School is known for is the extensive list of business classes offered here. Business students get the opportunity to participate in a national business club called DECA. To participate in DECA, you must be enrolled in a full-year business course, so it’s no surprise that with all the offerings at East, we have the largest DECA chapter in the state! Check out some student reviews of just a few of the many business courses offered at East!
Intro To Business
The introduction to business class is a great way to start off your business adventure at East as an underclassman, especially if you want to participate in DECA! You’ll be able to learn the basics of business, from economics to finance to marketing.
“I would recommend this class because it gives a solid foundation of business knowledge that everyone can benefit from, no matter what their other academic interests are. This class covers information on so many career fields! We sometimes discussed how topics related to the food industry, hospitality, sports, and health/medicine, just for example - so many other industries were included as well! I can’t imagine entering the workforce without this preliminary knowledge on business administration. I most enjoyed being able to be a part of DECA, the co-curricular business club!” -Lexi Plaisted, Senior

Entrepreneurship Honors
Entrepreneurship is a class for seniors to learn about how to start a business. The class goes over market strategies, financing and legal issues, and how to be a manager!
“I most enjoyed the creativity aspect. We were able to choose our own business idea to elaborate on for most of the year, and it was really fun to play out and test our ideas. Anytime I have a business idea in my everyday life, I think about it through the lens of this class! It played a key part in my career development as it helped me think more about the relationship between entrepreneurship and my other academic interests.”- Lexi Plaisted, Senior

Personal Finance
In Personal Finance, students are given the resources to explore careers and gain a sense of financial literacy in preparation for their future in the workforce.
“I would recommend this class to anyone with a tight schedule who wants to take a business class, as well as anyone who feels overwhelmed by the topic of personal finance. We discussed taxes, types of bank accounts, and money management skills, and the content would help anyone become more comfortable with money as a teenager. A lot of this class was about life skills, and those discussions will stay with me in the future. As I open retirement savings accounts or want to invest my money, I will think back on what I learned in this class - it is vital to my financial health now and in the future!” -Lexi Plaisted, Senior
