Actor Sean Connery recently passed away on October 31st, 2020. He lived a long and successful life, dying at the age of 90. Connery was best known for playing the first James Bond in the franchise, starting with Dr. No in 1962. The role skyrocketed him to fame, and he continued the role till 1983.

Over the course of his career, he continued to star in many other films, most famously in the Indiana Jones franchise as Henry Jones. Harrison Ford remarked that Sean Connery’s contribution to the writing greatly enhanced the film.,” It was amazing for me in how far he got into the script and went after exploiting opportunities for the character. His suggestions to George [Lucas] at the writing stage really gave the character and the picture a lot more complexity and value than it had in the original screenplay".

In 2003, he appeared in “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, his final film. He was paid $17 million dollars for the film, despite him not understanding the script. In 2006, upon receiving the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, he confirmed his retirement from acting, due to the “idiots now making films in Hollywood”.

Connery died on Halloween in his sleep. According to his son, Jason Connery, he had been feeling unwell for quite a while. Jason also paid tribute to Sean, saying it was “...a sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor”.

Many other well-known charismatic stars such as Sam Neill, Harrison Ford, Timothy Dalton, John Cleese, Kevin Costner, and Daniel Craig paid tribute to him. The producers of James Bond remarked that Connery “revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”
