February is the month of love, of romance and passion! You need a fiery heart to burn away the cold of winter, afterall. If you don’t already know, there are 5 love languages, and knowing which ones are in tune with can exponentially benefit your personal life. Now, here are some suggestions regarding each language of love to help you become a better shower of affection. I will be using the term LO throughout this document, which stands for “loved one.”

Touch

• Create a bunch of small, mechanical hands and place them around the house so they can reach out to your LOs in times where you are absent.

• Glue your arm to your LO’s for 24 hours to strengthen your bond, literally.

• Create a life-sized version of yourself and distribute copies amongst your LOs. This works best when real parts of you are connected to the doll/mannequin/other (i.e. hair, skin, fingernails).

Words of Affirmation

• Connect an audio tape of you saying positive things to a hidden Bluetooth speaker so your LO can always hear your loving words. Make sure it plays in their sleep too!

• Speak in riddles so your LO is forced to contemplate your words, until they figure it out before they go to sleep, and dream of pleasant things. 

• Plant written messages all over the house for them. Carve them into furniture. 

Acts of Service

• Do tasks for your LO without them even having to ask. Works best when you pretend it wasn’t you. Make sure to stay hidden when doing these tasks.

• If your LO complains about having to do something, reassure them by saying “I’ll take care of it” with a serious face so they know you’re serious.

• Create a company that will do odd-jobs and tasks for your LOs. Pay them sparingly. 

Quality Time

• Memorize your LO’s weekly schedule so you can follow them everywhere. 

• Surprise your LO by stopping by during their free time, no matter where they are. This yields the most positive results when you pop up like a Jack-in-the-Box.

• To make quality time more intimate, take away all distractions. Lock your LO’s phone in a hidden cabinet. Lock the door and all exits for extra effect.

Gift Giving

• Buy everything your LO looks at. Make homemade gifts when you’re low on money. 

• Occasionally, on special occasions, present yourself as a gift, situating yourself in a gift box.

• Place little presents everywhere as under the guise of being your LO’s secret admirer. Make sure not to tell them until you’ve given them all of the presents in that series, no matter how much they ask or plead. They love surprises!
